One learns the world made is yet being made, that this is still the morning of creation.”  John Muir

Having watched the Ken Burns documentary on the National Parks and reading Last Child in the Woods, I am grateful that the things of awe have never been spared me.  I am glad to have shared these things and walked in the sacred places.  I am glad that the footsteps there have been marked by being watched over and of watching over others.

It is peculiar that our exile from Eden did not spare us a beautiful home, that our discipline did not take us from the forests and mountaintops, nor did it deprive us of sharing these things which make us at once feel very small and yet part of something truly great.
